Transfer of credit
to other institutions
Educational
institutions vary greatly in their practice of accepting
transfer credit for courses completed at other
institutions. The acceptance of transfer credits
is always at the discretion of the institution to which
a student transfers.
Students wishing to
continue their education after attending the Building
Trades Institute are urged to contact the school to
which they intend to transfer and apply for transfer
credit. Please keep in mind that many of the
courses offered at the Institute have been developed to
prepare students with specific job skills appropriate to
the employment market rather than for college admission
or transfer. While we would hope that institutions
would recognize the value of the courses taken at the
Building Trades Institute, we cannot be certain that
academic credit will be given. However, if your
goal is to attain excellent job skills, the Institute is
an excellent choice for you!
Transfer of Credits
This institution welcomes applications from students
desiring transfer of credits from other educational
institutions. Credit will be given to students who have
completed courses within the past ten years that are
deemed to be equivalent to those required in specific
curricula by the Building Trades Institute AND have
earned a grade of “C” or better. Students must present
an official transcript of grades for evaluation by the
Vice President of Operations prior to the start date of
their program. Transfer credits will not be calculated
in the students' GPA. See the Vice President of
Operations for additional details.
By-Pass Credits
If a student has previous training or experience in an
applicable area, he/she may opt to sit for an
examination (a By-Pass Examination) to determine if the
skill level is sufficient to pass the requirement for a
class. Students must score 70% or higher on the course
written exam and pass the performance evaluation to
successfully by-pass a class. The student will earn a
"T" for the class, which will not be calculated in the
GPA.
