Student Conduct and Conditions for Dismissal

The Institute takes its responsibility to train students for the job market very seriously; therefore, we insist that students act and dress in accordance with proper business etiquette. Student behavior must be professional and courteous at all times.

  1. Dress – Students are required to wear clothing appropriate for a construction project setting. This is defined as:

    a. Long Pants or Jeans

    b. Hard-soled, leather work boots

    c. Shirts with long sleeves

    d. Hard hats, eye protection and gloves (provided by the school)

     

  2. Food/Drink – Permitted only in the break room areas. Students are strictly prohibited from taking food and/or drinks into the classrooms.

  3. Family Members/Visitors – No family members or visitors are permitted in classes at any time without expressed permission in advance from the Institute Administrator. Children are not permitted to attend classes with their parent.

  4. Cellular Phones, Pagers, PDA’s, Digital Cameras, and Photographic Equipment – Students must ensure that all such electronic communication equipment is turned off during all class and lab times.

The following activities may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal from the program:

  1. Vandalism

  2. Gambling

  3. Possession of drugs, drug paraphernalia, and/or alcohol on school property, including parking areas

  4. Possession of firearms and/or weapons on school property, including parking areas

  5. Language – Obscene or foul language will not be tolerated

  6. Smoking is not permitted inside the building; and then, only in designated areas

  7. Physical or verbal abuse and/or harassment of any student, faculty member or school official

  8. Theft of school and/or student property

  9. Plagiarism, cheating or falsifying records

  10. Poor attendance, pursuant to the attendance policy outlined in this catalog

  11. Belligerent insubordinate, or disrespectful behavior that may undermine the authority of a faculty member or school official; or disrupt any class, lab, or other instructional session

  12. Solicitation of any other students, faculty member, or school official for any cause unrelated to the instruction provided by the Institute, whether on behalf of an individual or a group

  13. Distribution of any literature to any person in or during class or lab. Distribution of Institute-related literature must be approved in writing in advance by the Institute Director

  14. Copying or removal of documents from the Institute without the prior approval of the Institute Director

  15. Willful disregard of school safety policy, practices and procedures; to include horseplay
